Roger Hearing

Roger Hearing is a journalist and former radio presenter. He was born in London and grew up in the western part of Dorset. He attended Hardye’s School, a state grammar school in Dorchester, before continuing his studies at Downing College, Cambridge and City University, London.

His career in journalism began at the Birmingham Post, then joining the BBC World Service in 1987. During his time with the World Service, he worked as a correspondent from countries such as Zambia, Iraq, Burma, Azerbaijan, India and Peru. Since 1999, he has been known for conducting programs such as The World Today and Newshour for World Service. He was also heard on BBC Radio 4 as a substitute host on The World Tonight.

It covered events of global importance such as the civil wars in Angola and Mozambique, the First Gulf War, the UN intervention in Somalia and the genocide in Rwanda.

In 2022, he left Bloomberg Radio and returned to the BBC World Service, where he regularly presented programs such as Business Matters and World Business Report. In addition, she leads a weekly topical podcast called The Why? Curve with Phil Dobbie.
