Moses Pendleton, born in Lyndonville on March 28, 1949, is a renowned American dancer and choreographer.
He earned the title of Vermont Cross-Country Ski Champion in 1967 before graduating in English Literature from Dartmouth College. In collaboration with Jonathan Wolken, he founded the Pilobolus Dance Theatre, earning the prestigious Berlin Critics’ Award and debuting on Broadway.
Pendleton then presented his famous “solo” in slow motion, dressed in white with black glasses and stick, called Momix, during the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. From this experience was born his company, Momix, which continued to succeed.
In addition to choreography, Pendleton has also distinguished himself in photography, using it both to capture new ideas of movement and as an art form in its own right. His success is attributed not only to his talent and inventiveness, but also to his simplicity, which made his creations accessible and fascinating to a wide audience.
