Mario Monti, economist, is senator for life. He was Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance. Graduated from Bocconi University, specialized at Yale University, he was Professor of Economics at the Universities of Trento and Turin, and then at Bocconi, of which he was also Rector (1989-1994) and President (1994-2022). He is a columnist for Corriere della Sera (since 1976). His books include Il governo dell’economia e della moneta (1992), Intervista sull’Italia in Europa, edited by Federico Rampini (1998), La democrazia in Europa, with Sylvie Goulard (2012), Parole e fatti, edited by Federico Fubini (2012).
