Maria Pia Ammirati is a television executive, writer and journalist with a degree in literature. He joined Rai in 1992 after experiences in journalism and criticism. Initially he works at the Education School Department (then Rai Educational), where he curates, produces and conducts cultural programs.
Since 2000 he has been at Rai 1, holding various roles such as Head of Network Secretariat, Project Manager and Structure Manager. From 2011 to 2014 he was Deputy Director with responsibility for Daytime.
In 2014 he became Director of Rai Teche and in 2016 he took over the role of Content RaiPlay manager. In November 2020 she was appointed Director of the Rai Fiction Directorate, a position that was confirmed in December 2021, when she became Director of Fiction Management. He also served as interim head of the Rai Fiction Directorate until June 2022.
In addition to her work on television, Ammirati is the author of novels and publications, receiving awards such as the Selection to the Premio Strega 2001 and the Premio Rodolfo Valentino 2014 Italian Excellence. He is a member of prestigious literary juries such as the Premio Strega and is part of various boards of directors, including RAI Cinema and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage.
