Marco Falcone, 52, a lawyer, is married to Patrizia and father of two children, Giuseppe and Chiara. Regional Councillor for the Economy, he has been a member of the Sicilian Regional Assembly for four legislatures and was Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Mobility.
The beginning of his political experience coincides with the militancy in Fuan – Young Right, of which he becomes a national leader, and then be counted among the founders of Youth Action. In 1993 he rose to national prominence: Falcone was elected, at only 22 years, mayor of his home town, Mirabella Imbaccari. He’s the youngest mayor in Italy. He will be reconfirmed in 1997, after his first candidacy to the ARS when, with 5581 preferences, he is the first of the unelected National Alliance. In 2003, at the provincial elections, he was the most voted in the Calatino constituency, a result that earned him the appointment as Councillor for Regional Policy in the Lombard Junta, a position he held until 2008. In the same year he was elected deputy to the ARS for the People of Liberty, holding the office first of secretary and then of vice-president of the Social and Health Services Commission. At the Regionals of 2012 he was reconfirmed, becoming deputy leader of the PDL. He then joined the reconstructed Forza Italia and in 2014 he was elected Blue leader, leading the main opposition force to the Crocetta government.
In 2017, with over 12 thousand preferences in Catania and the province of the leaders of Forza Italia, Falcone returned to the ARS and was then appointed Councillor for Infrastructure and Mobility of the Giunta Musumeci, a delegation he carried out for five years. In 2022, overcoming the 13 thousand preferences in Forza Italia, he was elected for the fourth time deputy to the ARS. The President Renato Schifani, by decree no. 777 of 15 November 2022, appointed him Regional Councillor for the Economy, also assigning him the responsibility for Programming.
