Kasia Smutniak

Born in Warsaw in 1979, the daughter of a Polish Air Force General, Kasia Smutniak grew up in contact with the world of aviation, inherited her father’s passion for flying and earned a pilot’s license at the age of 16.

From the early 2000s she began her acting career, starring in over 40 projects including cinema and TV series.

In 2008 she received her first prize, the Golden Globe as best new actress of the year for the film “In Your Hands” by Peter Del Monte, with which she also won her first Silver Ribbon.

He works with several Italian and international directors and has starred in numerous films including “Chaos Calm” by Antonello Grimaldi with Nanni Moretti (2008), “The Passion” by Carlo Mazzacurati (2009), “From Paris with Love” by Pierre Morel (2010), “Meraviglioso Boccaccio” by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani (2015), “Dolce Fine Giornata” by Jacek Borcuch (2019) and “Il Colibrì” by Francesca Archibugi (2022). He is among the protagonists of the award-winning film “Perfect Strangers”, which holds the record for most remakes in film history.

She stars in the Sky series “Devils” by Nick Hurran (2020) with Patrick Dempsey and Alessandro Borghi and plays the main role of Livia Drusilla in the Sky series “Domina” directed by Claire McCarthy.

In 2014 she won the Silver Ribbon as best leading actress thanks to her performance in “Fasten Your Belts” by Ferzan Özpetek and in 2018 she won the Silver Ribbon as best supporting actress for “Loro 1” and “Loro 2” by Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino.

In 2011 he founded the Pietro Taricone Onlus and built the Solar Ghami School in Mustang, Nepal, an innovative school built in full respect of Mustangi architecture that aims to preserve the millennial Tibetan culture.

Mur is his directorial debut.
