Dr. Antonio Giordano is the President and Founder of the Organisation for Research on Bar Health (SHRO), engaged in research for the diagnosis, treatment and treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other chronic diseases.
Born in Naples in 1962, he is Professor of Molecular Biology at the Temple University of Philadelphia and Professor “Chiara Fama” at the University of Siena. He is also Director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine.
His findings include a tumor suppressor gene, Rb2/p130, and the discovery of Cyclin A, Cdk9, and Cdk10, with applications in gene therapy and cancer diagnosis. He has published over 600 articles and helped identify anticancer agents for mesothelioma.
He also conducted research on the use of virtual reality during chemotherapy to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. He also studied the link between cancer and environmental pollution in Campania, helping to highlight the problem and promote awareness and environmental protection actions.
Dr. Giordano was awarded the Taobuk Da Vinci Prize 2024.
