Antonio Caprarica is an Italian journalist and writer famous for being one of the major faces of the Rai news. He was born in Lecce on 30 January 1951 and after graduating from the classical high school Giuseppe Palmieri, he moved to Rome to continue his studies at La Sapienza University where he graduated in Philosophy. He remained in the capital and began to take an interest in journalism, obtaining his first assignments at the end of the 1970s. He dealt first with news and then politics, while in 1986 he published his first book, the novel The Girl of Lost Steps.
In 1989 he debuted on television when he landed on Rai. He began to work as an envoy from abroad, becoming the regular correspondent for TG1 from the countries of the Middle East, broadcasting from large cities such as Cairo and Jerusalem. He then moved to Afghanistan and Iraq to become head of the Rai correspondence office in Moscow. After several years he returned to Italy in 2006 when he was appointed director of Giornale Radio Rai and Rai Radio Uno. In 2009 he started working as a correspondent, this time from England, and followed several important events such as the 2012 Olympic Games from London.
The following year he left Rai and moved to Agon Channel, an Albanian channel in Italian for which he leads the news and two current affairs programs. In the years 2010 he established himself as one of the leading experts of the British royal family on which he wrote several books including The Windsor Novel and The Last Summer of Diana. In 2022, he was a frequent guest on Alberto Angela Ulisse’s show to talk about the English monarchy. In the same period he also appears in recurring programs #cartabianca and Agorà. In 2023 he decided to participate as a contestant in Milly Carlucci’s talent show Ballando con le stelle.
